Lauren Hill, that darling girl who lived life to the fullest and helped so many others in spite of having a brain tumor, has died. Reading about Lauren over the past year, one couldn't help but think she should be the one getting all the attention instead of the death lobby. I know you join me in praying for Lauren and her wonderful family! Anne
Wonder what journalism school the author of that question attended?
Anyway, as I write this, we are a bit ahead. Since it is Rhode Island and can be applied to Massachusetts, we need to crush it!
Carol Tobias, President of the National Right to Life Committee, sent out this statement yesterday. The link below is from today. They are both worth reading. Anne
"Today at 8:00 a.m., Gov. Sam Brownback of Kansas signed into law a bill banning dismemberment abortions!
This new law is based on model legislation drafted by National Right to Life.
It is the first of what we hope will be many state laws banning dismemberment abortions.
This law could have the power to transform the landscape of abortion policy in the United States.
And I want to ask you to help us pass it in more states!
I want to warn you that this next paragraph is graphic in its description of what a dismemberment abortion is.
In a dismemberment abortion, a forceps or similar instrument is used to twist and tear pieces of a living unborn baby from her body until the baby bleeds to death. Many of these babies are developed enough to feel pain.
"Dismemberment abortion kills a baby by tearing her apart limb from limb," said our director of State Legislation, Mary Spaulding Balch, J.D. "Before the first trimester ends, the unborn child has a beating heart, brain waves, and every organ system in place. Dismemberment abortions occur after the baby has reached these milestones."
Even Justice Anthony Kennedy of the U.S. Supreme Court has written forcefully about the brutality of such abortions. The Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act would ban them - and National Right to Life is leading the fight to pass the law wherever we can.
Oklahoma is expected to pass the ban soon, and it's being considered elsewhere as well.
We learned in the debate over partial-birth abortion that when the American people are told about brutal methods of abortion like this, they recoil and want to see those abortions banned.
Those who have been with us since the fight over partial-birth abortion know that it helped transform the debate, moving many people - especially many young people who grew up at the height of the debate - to the pro-life side. The debate over protecting unborn babies from the barbarity of dismemberment abortions can have just as powerful an effect!"
I just received a call from "The Pro-Life Committee". The caller could/would not tell me who they are or anything about them. Please know that, if Mass Citizens calls you, we tell you up front exactly who we are. I certainly did not donate to this unknown committee. You'll probably be getting a call also.
As you know, we have been walking to aid mothers and children for about 30 years. Especially in the early years, proceeds from the Walk were a large part of the yearly donations for many of the helping beneficiaries who did not have the resources to hold their own walks. We were honored to provide the Walk for them.
On June 28, 2015 we will walk again. We will still raise money for beneficiary groups and encourage you to get pledges.
We have decided to broaden the focus. With more than one million babies having been killed by abortion in this state since legalization, we feel compelled to draw public attention to this carnage. Many young people are also anxious to do just that.
We have decided to refocus with the Massachusetts March for Life which, while still raising money to help pregnant women, will be geared toward youth activism like the March for Life is in DC. Just like the March in DC, we older folks will be very welcome!
Many states are holding Marches half way between the trips to DC. Our Walk seemed the perfect vehicle to do the same.
More than a million lives lost in Massachusetts - that is too big to hide! We must draw attention them! We must March for them.
Please mark your calendar for the Massachusetts March for Life, June 28 on Boston Common.
I am really delighted with this new, expanded approach to changing the hearts and minds of the public!
Be sure to vote for the March baby - you have until April 17th.
The latest Doctor-Prescribed Suicide bill, H 1991, has been filed. We have no idea when, but between now and the summer of 2016 hearings will be held. Things you should know:
1) The Massachusetts Alliance Against Doctor-Prescribed Suicide has reconstituted and updated it website, http://www.noassistedsuicidema... and email list. You should be hearing from them soon.
2) H 1991 is a mess. It pretends to answer all our concerns about safeguards but, reading the implementation part shows huge internal inconsistencies between what it promises and what the bill would actually do
3) The Public Health Committee, which was evenly split in 2013 - 2014 appears to be more in favor of D-PS this time. Committee contains three co-sponsors.
4) We have always known the concept of "prognosis" was inaccurate. This 60 Minutes video shows how cancer patients at Duke are being "cured" The first article is about one of them. The other two articles are about cancer treatments in the works. With the buzz that cancer will be solved very soon, why would any legislature encourage someone to kill herself? Anne
Sandra sent this along. There has been quite a push to put Margaret Sanger's picture on the $20 bill. Sandra shares how we can vote to put pro-life woman like Susan B Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton or Clara Barton on the bill (you must vote for three). Thanks Sandra! Anne
Please help get on the email vote to get a woman on the $20 bill replacing Andrew Jackson who is now thought to have a "questionable past."
Strangely enough, a couple of the the nominees for this honor don't have questionable pasts but well documented pasts which have done far more to harm women than to help. The list includes Margaret Sanger! It is sickening to think of our country officially honoring someone like Sanger. Preliminary voting closes on April 5 and then there is a final vote. Vote now at: http://www.womenon20s.org/ and please send this to all your contacts. Thanks in advance.
Colorado has no fetal homicide laws. They say that is why the woman who killed a little eight month pre-born baby girl by cutting her from her mother's womb won't be prosecuted.
Officially Massachusetts does not have such laws either, but, as you can see from the cases below, prosecutors and judges in Massachusetts have acted with common sense.
Massachusetts # Commonwealth vs. Lawrence, 536 N.E.2d 571 (Mass. 1973) affirms the conviction for murder of a woman and involuntary manslaughter of her 27-week-old fetus.
Commonwealth vs. Cass, 467 N.E.2d 1324 (Mass. 1984) rules that a viable fetus is within the ambit of the term "person" in the vehicular homicide statute. The case refers to Mass. Gen Law, ch. 90 § 24G, which defines vehicular homicide.
Another "unintended consequence" of legal abortion. Lord hear our prayers for the parents of that little girl.
Thank goodness this local social worker had the good of this little girl at heart and, incidentally, followed the law. Just think what would have happened if this predator had called one of our abortion facilities!
You still have time to volunteer to be part of this marvelous effort. You might hit the only warm day of the 40.
Commendations to the coordinators and volunteers who braved the worst weather possible to pray for the babies and their mothers!
Thank you, Anne
Rita Russo shared this huge news. Since the first coordinated 40 Days for Life campaign in 2007, we have confirmed reports of 10,000 babies who are alive today because their mothers rejected abortion and chose life! These are people who said that they changed their minds and decided NOT to have an abortion. Praise God!
Today is day 34 of this campaign, and 301 of those babies have been saved during this campaign. We are on our final week of vigil, ending on Palm Sunday with a Concluding Prayer Service at 3 pm, Sunday, March 29th with Rev. Michael McNamara. Please join us!
Friday, March 27th at 7 pm, we will have our last English Candlelight Vigil led by Rev. Joseph McDermott.
Saturday, March 28th at 6 pm, we will have our last Spanish Candlelight Vigil led by the Seminarians from St. John's Seminary.
Stations of the Cross at Planned Parenthood at 9 am on Good Friday.
We will still be out there every day this week praying through Sunday. If you haven't made it out yet, you still have time. The snow has melted and the parking meters have re-appeared on Commonwealth Avenue.
SUNDAY, MARCH 29th, 3-4:45PM - Our campaign's closing event will begin with an hour of prayer across the street from Planned Parenthood. Immediately following, we will have Adoration and Benediction in the Problem Pregnancy chapel at 495 Pleasant Street.
If you are like I am, you have had your eye on a little cutie whose picture you plan to submit to be the Walk/March Baby but you have not actually submitted the picture. Well, we have to do it by midnight today or it will be too late! Please get that picture in. I am dying to see your baby! http://masscitizensforlife.org...
Those who attended the Convention were delighted with what they learned and with the chance to exchange ideas.
Prof. Michael New proved beyond a statistical doubt that state laws and other efforts by state organizations have dramatically cut the number of abortions, thus saving many babies.
Two-parent parental consent laws (not just notification or one parent) cut the number of abortions by 31%! His talk was full of gems like that.
Nancy Valko, RN shared many of her personal and professional experiences. One thing that stood out was that, when Nancy operated on principle for a family member or patient, the result was that many of her colleagues changed their minds and started advocating properly.
Dr Mark Rollo shared the facts which show that NaproTechnology, besides being moral, natural, and safe for baby and mother is also as successful or more successful than in vitro fertilization. We must work to get the word out about this "miracle"
After lunch, we started something new. Conventioneers who wanted more from one of the speakers had the opportunity to sit down and interact, question, etc. It was marvelous. The problem was choosing which speaker (s) to sit with.
Linda Thayer, as usual, is a huge draw. She talked about Frameworks legislation and presented her newest program. People were coming up to tell me they want to have her come to their towns.
Usually, by the end of the day, people are getting restless and eat lots of cookies and soft drinks. On Saturday we has dozens of each left over because people were mesmerized and didn't even think of getting up.
Topping off the wonderful speakers was Colleen Janz, Executive Director of the Susan B Anthony Birthplace Museum, who came with her traveling wall. Colleen didn't give a presentation, she gave a performance. She made the life and times of Anthony and her fellow "suffragists", particularly their pro-life position on abortion, come alive.
It was fun to see Eric Anthony, a collateral descendent, in the audience.
I want to extend a huge thanks to St Sebastian School who lent us their beautiful facilities and resources.
We are so lucky that wonderful speakers and locations are so committed to the issue of life that they will share with us. The pictures and videos will be available shortly - I'll let you know.
Thanks again to everyone involved in making the Convention such a success!
We are so fortunate to be at St Sebastian's School!

This just came from the MCFL Ludlow office,
FYI we had a save in Springfield yesterday morning. Two of our people showed the couple a video and they immediately changed their minds!
The story is going around the internet about the young mother who was rejected by American Idol three times. A video of her singing to her baby has gone viral and she has received a number of offers. The neat thing is that she sat in an abortion clinic for seven hours crying and finally decided not to abort the little one who now is the light of her life. In the story, it mentions that many mothers have posted pictures of babies they were all set to abort - one is 17 and "his mother's best friend". I cannot find where those pictures are posted. If you know, would you pass it on, please? I think it would be great to share.
All of a sudden, Monday, March 23rd is almost upon us! That is the last day to register your favorite little person(s) to be the 2015 Walk/March Baby! You know all babies are beautiful, so the only requirement is that the baby be between 6 and 24 months today.
Rita Russo, who does a fabulous job organizing 40 Days in Boston, sent this update. All of you who have volunteered are wonderful! Anne
Today is day 28 of this campaign, with 12 days to go. I am happy to report that 265 babies have been saved from abortion at all the sites since the beginning of the campaign, February 18th. Never doubt the value and importance of your efforts and sacrifices for life. Do not be discouraged. God sees your actions.
We have the following events scheduled for the last 2 weeks of the campaign:
English Candlelight Vigils Fridays at 7 pm, March 20, and 27
Spanish Candlelight Vigils Saturdays at 6 pm, March 21, 28
Concluding Prayer Service on Sunday, March 29th at 3 pm.
Mother Teresa once said, "Peace begins with a smile." Remember that pro-life ministry begins with treating all you come across as a child made by a loving Creator; your simple smile can be the thing that turns someone's heart to the kind, loving ways of their Father in Heaven.
Father of mercy and grace, we thank you for the gift of our children. Grant that every fiber of our being may rejoice when a new baby, our own or any else's, is born into the world. Help us to welcome them as we would welcome you, for whenever a new baby is conceived, another life to bear your image and another voice to praise and worship you, is beginning. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.
"God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes." Vatican Council II
Those of you who called them are not surprised that Senators Warren and Markey value abortion more than the victims of sex trafficking. This is an excellent account with some very thoughtful quotes. Anne
Well, let's put it this way, they will most likely vote against an aid to victims of human trafficking bill, so...
As you'll see in the article from Politico, this very fine bill, which should have the support of all, contains Hyde language prohibiting funds to pay for abortions. The Democrats are outraged! If the bill comes to a vote many of them will vote against it. http://www.politico.com/story/...
Personally, I plan to call Senators Warren and Markey right away, ask their aides how each of them is going to vote, and then be shocked, shocked by the answer. If they do vote for the bill, they will be voting for the abortion-funding ban - they can't win.
The other delicious bit is that the they did not know the language was in the bill because they did not read the bill!
The situation of these poor victims is dreadful and needful of redress. The situation in which the Democratic senators find themselves is hilarious. Anne

Choose Life License Plate: Now that the weather is getting nice, your car will no longer be uniform gray. Just think how attractive and effective it will be to have a Choose Life plate appear. Just go to your local registry.
Jack and Eleanor Cadigan are my neighbors. Jack went to Harvard Medical School with Dr Jefferson and was the first speaker at her memorial service. He also made some radio ads for us when we were fighting the passage of O-care. They had a miracle in their family. http://www.bostonglobe.com/spo...

This looks as though a buffer zone has been struck down in Pittsburgh. Reading the entire article makes me think it is a very temporary set-back.http://rhrealitycheck.org/article/2015/03/10/pro-choice-win-federal-court-upholds-pittsburgh-buffer-zone/
The weather today is refreshing and our cause is just!
Operation Rescue spotted this sign outside Planned Parenthood in Boston last Saturday. What do you think of it?
This year's Respect Life Walk / Massachusetts March for Life on June 28 will have a whole new look and tone with many more young people. I'll be telling you the exciting details!
The first order of the day is to choose the March Baby who will be the face of the March.
Your adorable little one, or another you know, would make a darling March Baby. Pictures must be submitted by March 23, 2015, so you need to get going! Babies must be 6 - 24 months now. Pictures will become the property of Mass Citizens.
If you know a family with a baby the right age, please tell them about the contest. Rob says his neice is going to win. Let's give him a run for his money!
